What is a bunk room?

Before we start decorating, what is a bunk room? It is a room that can accommodate several people using bunk beds. These can be built-in or free-standing. Bunk rooms are great for accommodating guests or children sharing a room.

Beds are usually lined up along one or both walls to utilize space and provide more sleeping space.

5 Ways to Get the Look of This Neutral Two Deck Room Shown on Remodelaholic.com (1)

1. Add a modern fan

When multiple people sleep in one area, it can easily get warm! Adding an eye-catching, modern fan with black blades and lighting can help keep the space cool and comfortable for guests. Plus, it adds a little extra light too if you opt for a fan and light combo!

2. Built-in beds

Built-ins look amazing, but you can get away with creating faux built-ins or freestanding beds that look very elegant. We have two options below to help you with how to design a bunk room partition below.

3. Coordinate linens

What gives this room a more modern feel are the linens. They coordinate but are not exactly the same. No matching beds are identical here. Instead, mix white, black and tan linens in a variety of ways. The upper and lower beds use the same colors, but in opposite ways. This also applies to pillows. Stick to a neutral palette, but mix it up a little between the upper and lower floors!

4. Simple texture rug

Add a rug to warm up hardwood floors and add a touch of texture and pattern. Go with a simple striped pattern or another very simple patterned rug. The rug also anchors and centers the room.

5. Add extra seating

If this is also a hangout area, add some comfortable seating. These soft bean bag chairs are comfortable, fun and a great place to relax. They face a wall-mounted TV to provide some entertainment in the bunk room.
